🫔 We headed to the 33rd Annual Indio Tamale Festival, where 21 vendors battled it out for the best meat, veggie, and sweet tamales — and for the first time, we were among the judges.

After hours of blind tastings (and a tamale-eating contest where someone crushed 7 tamales in 2 minutes 😳), the winners rose to the top:

Today, the Palm Springs community gathered at Downtown Park for the groundbreaking of the Palm Springs AIDS Memorial @psaidsmemorial — a space dedicated to remembrance, reflection, and healing.

The Memorial, titled “Well of Love,” was designed by acclaimed local artist Phillip K. Smith III and will stand as a beacon of compassion in the heart of Palm Springs — a city that once became a haven for those seeking care and love during the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Speakers included Jeffrey Bernstein, Dan Spencer, Phillip K. Smith III, and Paul Clowers, each sharing powerful words about loss, legacy, and the enduring strength of community.

🌴🇵🇭 Despite the clouds, the Coachella Valley Filipino Festival lit up Palm Springs with color, flavor, and community. From crispy lumpia and rich pork sisig to ube-everything, this second-year celebration was a full-on feast for the senses.

I tried it all — even chicken intestines (the footage says it all 😅). My personal winner: that pork sisig from @socal_sisig — unreal.

We hit the mezzanine, the dressing rooms, the green room, and every corner that makes this 1936 landmark feel alive again. Fun fact: this place reopened after a massive renovation that wrapped in under two years… and they uncovered original 1936 stenciling hiding behind the proscenium. 👀✨

At Mr. Lyons Steakhouse @mrlyons.f10 mixology master Steen Bojsen-Møller taught us the secrets behind the perfect mid-century cocktail. From citrus drinks that demand a bold shake to martinis that deserve a silky stir, this hands-on class proved that cocktail-making is equal parts science and style.

And yes — it all started at 11 a.m. Because in Palm Springs, happy hour is a state of mind. 😉

We sampled Japanese spirits like Roku Gin, Toki Whisky, Haku Yuzu Vodka, and Midori… but one drink may have stolen the show — the Army & Navy, made with Roku Gin, lemon, orgeat, and Angostura bitters. A perfect balance of sweet, citrus, and spirit — and maybe just one sip too many.
